Audible Tuning Split-screen video with sound. Duration: 40 min. (loop)
A grand piano is tuned according to the world standard pitch A=440 Hz and another grand piano is tuned so A equals 436 Hz. This second value is generated from the average of the different values that historically have been used for piano tuning. Recordings of the two tuning processes are simultaneously played as a split screen video projection. The sounds from the two tuning processes overlap, interfere with and complement each other during the video.
Thanks to piano tuners August Frisca, Alan Eder and the Music School at California Institute of the Arts
